ErgoDox FT Low Profile: DIY kit
Everything you need to build a ErgoDox FT Low Profile from scratch. 76 keys, a split build, on low-profile Kailh Choc v1 switches.
The same keyboard assembled by me costs 250 EUR. Building it yourself saves you 75 EUR, which is roughly what my time at the soldering bench is worth. The parts are identical.
It is also the only route where you get to know the keyboard from the inside. When something stops working two years from now, you will know where to look, because you put it together.

Switches and keycaps are picked separately in the options, because they are the most personal choice on a keyboard and I would rather not decide for you.
Time and tools
A first keyboard usually takes one unhurried afternoon. The next one goes twice as fast.
- A soldering iron and solder. Starter kits are available in the shop.
- A solder sucker or wick, in case of a mistake
- A switch puller, if you go for hot swap sockets
Wired only
This model comes in a wired version only. RP2040 controller, USB-C and VIAL firmware. The layout is edited in the app or in your browser, with no firmware compilation.
A split build
Two independent halves let you place each one shoulder-width apart, exactly where your arms end. There is room between them for a mouse, notebook or tablet. In the standard configuration the left half connects to the computer and the right half talks to it.
Low-profile build
Kailh Choc v1 switches are held by a 3D-printed PETG plate with a carbon-fibre finish, seated in a wooden frame. Your finger travels a shorter distance on every press and your wrist sits closer to the desk.
If you would rather not solder
The same model is available as the ErgoDox FT Low Profile fully assembled, built and tested by me. It costs more, but all you do is take it out of the box.
Support along the way
If you get stuck during the build, write to contact@falba.tech. I answer personally and will walk you through it. I also repair keyboards people assembled themselves when something went wrong. You pay for parts and shipping only.
Handmade in Poland
Cases are CNC-milled from bamboo or acacia and finished by hand in the FalbaTech workshop. Natural wood carries subtle differences in shade and grain, which is the mark of genuine handwork.
